i'm planning to buy skyrim cause it looks amazing as f*ck but i haven't played any other elder scroll games like oblivion and the rest of the series...so just wondering if i need to buy oblivion before skyrim?..thx in advance...Do you need to play the previous elder scrolls to play skyrim?
Nope. It's a totally new storyline, although I do recommend oblivion because it's a good game too, almost as good as skyrim

Nope, not at all. It does reference some stuff that you would only know about if you played the other Elder Scrolls games. Not important to the story line though.
